Frequently Asked Questions

How does Somatic Therapy Differ From Traditional Therapy?

Traditional Therapy techniques are typically less structured and favor open-ended conversations surrounding mindsets. In contrast, Somatic Therapy offers a more structured approach to internal struggles and explores how lived experiences present in your beliefs and your physical body.

What is Somatic Experiencing and Movement?

Somatic Experiencing and Intuitive Somatic Movement is a body-oriented approach established by Peter A. Levine. It’s designed to help you process internal struggles, improve your understanding of your body, and encourage healing through movement.

Physical movement may include yoga, barre, kickboxing, pacing, or other types of movement that your body determines it needs.

What is Compassionate Inquiry?

Compassionate Inquiry is a therapeutic approach that helps you unveil, identify, and release unconscious dynamics that influence your day-to-day life.

Developed by Dr. Gabor Mate, this technique works to reveal what lies beneath your outward appearance and get to the heart of your beliefs.

What is Internal Family Systems?

Internal Family Systems is an empowering approach to understanding all aspects of your personality.

This model, pioneered by Richard C. Schwartz, considers how every individual is made up of multiple layers or ‘sub-personalities’. To feel completely centered, you must balance and harmonize all parts of yourself.

What if I’m hesitant to make a program commitment?

I invest deeply with clients who choose to partner with me, and aim to form deep long lasting transformative connections.

The men and women I work with know the value of investing in themselves. They are ready to invest even if they are scared or feel like they don’t have the money. The clients I serve are ready to do the work, show up to the work, invest in the work and experience the support of the work alongside me.

Do you accept insurance?

I don’t accept insurance, however I can provide you with a Superbill at the end of every month for you to submit to your insurance if you have out-of-network benefits. I do not work directly with insurance, nor do I use CPT Coding.

Do you only accept out-of-pocket pay?

There are many benefits to paying out-of-pocket for mental health services. As a private pay client, you don’t have to worry about:

  • Insurance denying services or limiting the number of sessions

  • Getting a referral from a medical provider before starting services

  • Having to fit a diagnosis or label which allows your sessions to focus on what you need at present to achieve your goals

Additionally, you’ll have increased privacy protection since you won’t need to report information on your treatment to your insurance company.

What payments do you accept?

I use a HIPAA-compliant, secure processing service. This service keeps the card you choose on file. You’ll be charged your program fee on the first business day of each month. I accept:

  • Credit cards

  • HSA (Health Savings Accounts)

  • FSA (Flexible Spending Accounts)

What is your policy for missed appointments and cancellations?

If you need to reschedule, please provide at least 48 hours notice by email. If you don’t reschedule at least 48 hours before your scheduled time, you will be charged your full session fee. You can request a different time in the same week as your original appointment. I provide text and email reminders to assist you, and I also encourage you to set up your own reminder systems to make your therapy appointments a priority.
